Obama Lied; Babies Died!

Last night’s third and final Presidential Debate was largely uneventful with the candidates sticking mainly to the standard talking points. McCain was a bit more on point than in previous debates, doing a good job explaining how he favors lowering Joe the Plumber’s taxes while Obama wants to raise them. He also managed to draw some clear contrasts not only with Obama but also with President Bush.

But perhaps the biggest moment of the night was missed by most of the pundits. The issue of abortion came up as the candidates were asked about their potential Supreme Court appointments and there views on Roe v. Wade. McCain took this opportunity to contrast his pro-life position with Obama’s extreme pro-abortion position by reminding voters that “Sen. Obama, as a member of the Illinois State Senate, voted in the Judiciary Committee against a law that would provide immediate medical attention to a child born of a failed abortion.” McCain was referring to the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, which sought to put an end to a barbaric practice taking place in Illinois. Jim Stanek, a former nurse in the Labor & Delivery Department at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois, tells of the horrors of the babies who survived blotched abortion and were left alone in a utility room with soiled linens to die.

Obama responding last night saying, “If it sounds incredible that I would vote to withhold lifesaving treatment from an infant, that’s because it’s not true.” He went on to say that the bill “said you have to provide lifesaving treatment and that would have helped to undermine Roe v. Wade." This is simply a lie. The bill, Illinois Senate Bill 1095, gave legal to protection to babies at the moment of birth regardless of their gestational age or if they were the survivor of an abortion. Simply put, the bill said that a once a baby is born is should be cared for they way anyone else would be; it did not deal with the protection Obama holds so dear of killing the baby while still inside the womb. Obama is on record voting against the bill in committee and was the sole senator to speak out against the bill from the floor on the Illinois State Senate. Obama went on to say that the law was unnecessary because doctors’ “Hippocratic oath would have required them to provide care and there was already a law in the books.” Wrong again. The Illinois law left this decision up to the abortionists to determine if this care was necessary. I doubt the abortionist is the most subjective determiner of whether these abortion survivors are deemed worth to live. Obama ignored these baby who were left alone to die because to him it was more important to make sure that there was no chance that this bill would prevent any abortions.

This is part of Obama’s record that he continues to lie about and distort for one simple reason; He does not want people to know that he is the most radically pro-abortion Presidential candidate in the history of this country. Obama lied; babies died!
